After proving to be America’s most accurate national poll in the 2004, 2008, 2012 and 2016 presidential elections, results for 2020 show the IBD/TIPP poll has done it again. IBD/TIPP has now been the most accurate in each of the last five election cycles.
But the election polls are just one part of the IBD/TIPP polling collaboration of Investor’s Business Daily and TechnoMetrica.
The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index is the earliest take on consumer confidence each month and predicts with good reliability monthly changes in sentiment in well-known polls by The Conference Board and the University of Michigan. The IBD/TIPP Economic Optimism Index is based on a survey of 1,200 adults conducted using a network of online panels. The national poll is generally conducted in the first week of the month.
IBD/TIPP also produces the monthly Presidential Leadership Index, which tracks approval ratings for presidential job performance, direction of the country, America’s standing in the world and quality of life.
The Economic Optimism Index and Presidential Leadership Index are based on a national online survey conducted using TechnoMetrica’s network of online panels to provide the sample. The 2020 IBD/TIPP Presidential Election Tracking Poll, also a national survey, was based on randomly selected live interviews via cellphones and landlines, supplemented by online surveys designed to capture younger Americans.
