FTSE LIVE: Shell Energy fined; Oil price choppy after Oman attack – This is Money

The oil giants are in focus today for a number of reasons. 

The attack on two oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman this week raised both the geopolitical temperature and the price of oil. 

But as CMC Markets points out, ‘the bounce was much shallower than might be expected given that prices are already near five-month lows’. 

Meanwhile, Shell Energy Retail has been forced by Ofgem to pay £390,000 after overcharging around 12,000 energy customers on its default tariffs.
